EXHIBITION MUSIC

Inspired by the many faces and decades of electronic and alternative music, Exhibition transplanted themselves to LA from somewhere in the Rocky Mountains in the early 90s. Having started out as a duo, EXHIBITION abducted psy-trance wizard Darren Burgos of Psychoid and Steva Reno of Rhino Records to concoct EXHIBITION as the electro-quartet it is now. Taking some time out from the bump and grind of club dates and schmoozing, the band turned its attention toward breaking in new personnel by getting to know them better in the studio. With myriad new songs written and bandmates well-broken in, studio production and all the new technologies therein became central focus for EXHIBITION for the later part of 2002 and most of 2003. As the end of the year approaches, a new independent EP is in the queue and the second full-length EXHIBITION album is on the horizon.

Musical influences, although shocking, include punk/new wave music, like Blondie, Bowie, Kraftwerk, New Order, as well as gothic and industrial music from the likes of Clan of Xymox, Skinny Puppy, NIN, KMFDM, etc. The 90's are an electronic music sorespot for the band, though modern synthpop/electronica such as Crystal Method, APB, VNV Nation and the further development of trance and techno were magnificent exceptions. Early vocal and instrumental medieval music inspires Sean, while Andy gets an extra special rise out of the Romantic era of classical piano. Influences of Darren and Steva are yet to be documented, but stay tuned to find out!

EXHIBITION opened for Marc Almond of Soft Cell during his Open All Night tour in 1999. These three shows exposed the band to a large and loyal following of electronic synth music lovers. With more people connected to the world via computer, electronic computer-based music is not so cold and arcane as it was once regarded.
